Description:
This introductory course is designed to show you how to harness the healing power of nature through the creation of herbal remedies from summer plants herbalist and healer, Andrea Marcinkus.. Through this hands-on class, participants will learn essential techniques to create several therapeutic products including teas, tinctures, and oil infusions. Discover the incredible potential of our plant allies and deepen your understanding of their healing properties. We will focus on three wild harvested summer plants - learn their healing properties, taste samples, create examples for you to take home, and learn how to communicate with the spirit of the plants we are using.
We will start with creating a plant-infused oil, learning how to extract the plant’s medical properties into a carrier oil that can be used for massage, skincare, and other topical applications. Next, we will delve into an exploration of tea-making, and how to brew a simple, but healing remedy. Finally, we will focus on creating alcohol tinctures, where you will learn about maceration times and plant-to-alcohol ratios.
While this class builds off of the Summer Foraging 101 course and plants from the previous weekend, learners do not need to take this class beforehand. Join us again in Fall to learn about Autumn Wild Plant Medicines with both a class in the field and another in the classroom.
